It is a little difficult to admit, “I am a kept man.”  However, Michael gives us a new perspective for admitting this…

DAY 137

He Will Keep You

I am coming to you, Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name. --John 17:11

There are always times in a believer's life when present circumstances and the baggage of the past simply overwhelm him. It is as though all of hell's forces are unleashed upon him. Emotions are confused and the mind races to find a way out, although there seems to be none. At this point it is important that the believer NOT look to his own ability to be kept. He must remember that it is God who does the keeping; if it were up to him to keep himself, he would have been overcome long ago. Therefore, each night before he goes to sleep, he can lay the future before the Lord. "Lord, I cannot keep myself, all is confusing, all appears hopeless, and now YOU keep me.” HE WILL KEEP THE BELIEVER! IT IS HIS JOB!

Even though as a Born Again Believer, a Christian, a Child of God, I still have part of me I was physically born with…the soul I have had since then, and the body too.  Yet because of my New Birth, not only do I have the Lord’s Spirit and His Soul too, I have a different position in life.  It is that new position that gives me the privilege to pray as Michael draws my attention to: “Lord, I cannot keep myself…now YOU keep me.”  Well, amen.

The New me acknowledges the promise of that because I KNOW intuitively that God is always answering Jesus’ prayer in John 17:11.  The New is at rest in Jesus.  Sleep is peaceful and restful.

Day 135 - Having an Explosion

That irrepressible “you” in a life…how seemingly dastard is he/she.  Oh, my.  It isn’t he/she as much as I.

Michael gives us a good look at how God is at work in us, even when “you” show up.

DAY 135

Having an Explosion

He must increase, but I must decrease. --John 3:30

How does one take the smallest particle and make it smaller? By exploding it! The nucleus of the atom is a very small thing, and yet it can be made smaller through an explosion. There is a lesson here for all that would decrease that God might increase. The smallest bit of self-life will be made smaller only after God magnifies it through an explosion. “Oh, I was doing so well loving God and walking in holiness, and then you entered the room. I can walk perfectly well with Jesus until you enter the room. I do not really have any problems, and walking in the Spirit is natural, until you enter the room.” Though we do not like being confronted with it, whenever a you in our life enters the room, our self-life explodes! We did not think that we had a self-life that ugly until it was inescapably revealed to us. We need not be discouraged or avoid the person or the situation, when we can see God and have a move in Him. He is only exploding self so that it might decrease in us. We can simply acknowledge to Him the flesh when we grasp our weak inability to love. We decrease that He might increase.

How many give thought that God is moving in us when our self-life explodes?  Well, Michael says two things are important:
The smallest bit of self-life will be made smaller only after God magnifies it through an explosion.
We need not be discouraged or avoid the person or the situation, when we can see God and have a move in Him.

There it is…”see God and have a move in Him.”  God is the One who can reclaim that ground we have given the enemy.  God is the One who can heal the past.  How amazing is it that we have no difficulty trusting God to “forgive our sin, and take us to Heaven when we leave this world”…but we don’t trust Him to do something with our flesh?

Getting past the past…what a wonderful victory for those who decrease and Christ increases in life today.

Day 131 - He Is Not Dead!

Thoughts on Michael Wells’ teachings in My Weakness for His Strength - # 234

This Sunday is 2017’s Easter Sunday.  Michael’s writing today embraces a truth that is “foreign” to far too many Christians…

Let Holy Spirit speak to you through Michael’s words!

DAY 131

He Is Not Dead!

This is now the third time that Jesus was manifested to the disciples, after He was raised from the dead. --John 21:14

Often I talk about hearing Jesus. Indeed, every believer does hear Him and will discover that all of his clever little thoughts about Jesus were the voice of God all along. “My sheep hear My voice” is an absolute truth! We do hear Him. I enjoy being taught by God, and yet when I say that, I am sometimes looked upon as an alien. The fact is that He is not dead! He is alive, having come out of the grave, and He speaks to His people. We approach the Scriptures to find Him, to hear Him. We want the Bible to speak to us. We are not reading about His life like we would read about other teachers. We are not attempting to heed what was said by a teacher long dead and gone; Jesus is not dead! The Living Word will speak to us; we can approach Him personally. He is alive!

Stop and meditate on it if it seems doubtful that He is alive and will speak! Have you let Jesus speak to you? Have you heard from Him? There is no need merely to sing about Jesus or fancy Him in mind or emotions when He can be met and walked with. He is alive!

I think a pertinent issue is wrapped up in Michael’s statement: We approach the Scriptures to find Him, to hear Him. We want the Bible to speak to us.  As a definitive statement, it might fit Michael well, but proof being in the pudding…it doesn’t fit too many Christians well.  Many say this, but their actions following “His speaking” or “the Bible speaking” do not give testimony to a very tasty pudding!

Michael gives us a “wake-up” call with these words: The fact is that He is not dead!

I love that word manifested in John 21:14, don’t you!  The Greek phaneroo can be used for “divine revelation, referring to those to whom the revelation is made.”  But, in this instance Holy Spirit is using it as “to make visible, show.”  And what a “showing” it was in John 21…John,  Nathaniel, Thomas, Peter and a couple more men got another show of how to catch fish, right near the bank…when they hadn’t caught any fish all night!

But when Jesus spoke, the disciples listened.  Especially Peter in the following 10 verses!  Well, amen!

The world would read this day’s writing and say, “Michael is crazy.”  They don’t believe in, nor see, God.  We have other eyes…

DAY 128

He is Everywhere

And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. --Hebrews 1:3

Often we forget that God is in everything. We do not view it as does the pantheist, but rather from the standpoint of creation. Since God holds all things together, all things can teach us something about Him. Years ago when my son was young, he and I were in the back yard trimming away new apple shoots. I stopped and explained that if we were quiet, opened our hearts to the Lord and listened, we could learn something about the Father through pruning the tree. Soon my son brought me a new green shoot and a dead, brittle shoot from the year before. I watched as he tied the green shoot in a knot and untied it; he then took the dead, brittle shoot and broke it in two. I asked what that taught him about the Lord, and he responded, “If I have Christ’s life in me, what breaks the world will only bend me.” I told him he had discovered a great truth that would carry him all through life if he would hide it in his heart. “Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place.” –Psalm 51:6

When walking we can ask God to speak to us. Once when I was with my Indian teacher walking in the mountains, he stopped by a half-rotten gigantic log and asked what I saw. I noticed that this log, long after its death, was still leaving its mark; we still had to step over it. In the same way I said that I wanted to be a believer who after death still left his mark among family, friends, and even unbelievers. He pointed out a branch in the trunk; because of the extensive decay, I could see that the branch had been attached to the very center of the tree, enveloped and held in place by it. He pointed out that we are attached to the Vine’s center, with Jesus holding us in place.

A very interesting thought crossed my mind as I read this today…What have we been missing, not using the “other eyes” God has given His children?

Sometimes we know correct thoughts…like “He is everywhere.”  But we don’t “see” Him everywhere in everything.  How tragic for us…

Often we forget…or, don’t look…or, simply go through life with our “other eyes” closed.

By the way, don’t forget that as that new creation in Christ, God has given us “the radiance of His glory, and the exact representation of His nature”…that’s Christ in us.  Well, amen!
