Often Michael would say, “The problem is not the problem.”  In today’s writing, Michael gives us incredible insight into solving people’s “problems.”  Make note of the real issue, and God’s activity in one’s life who is seeking Him.

DAY 287

The Perfect Day

This is the day which the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. --Psalm 118:24

A fellow came to see me who was suicidal. He had long exerted his resolve against homosexuality and had recently lost the struggle and stumbled. He is not a homosexual or there would not be the conviction of God after such an act. Still, he felt he was less than a conqueror and was done trying; he was ready to check out; he definitely wanted the most recent failure to be the last. I looked at him and said, “Today, Brother, is the best day of your life. There is no way that today could be better. If you had perfect victory in the past, today would not be better. In fact everything, and I mean everything, that has happened in the past is making this the perfect day. For today God is going to deal with your . . .” I paused. He thought for certain that I was going to say homosexuality. However, homosexuality was merely the cobweb, not the spider. He stopped me to say, “There is no way that you can say today is a perfect day.” I replied, “You will not say that in a minute. For what God is going to deal with today is your unbelief and self-righteousness!It cut him like a knife, for he knew this was the real problem. As we sat talking and sharing, God dealt with the real problem: the man’s unbelief and self-righteousness. When finally he left, as he walked out the door he was so happy and had such a lift in his spirit that he turned and said, “This is the best day of my life!” Often we think we know the problem, when it is just the consequence, not the cause.

Did you catch that first glimpse into God working in one’s life seeking Him?  Conviction.  A bringing to the Christ soul in Believers of anything contradicting the Life of Christ.

But the clear encouragement Michael gave the fellow about God dealing with his unbelief and self-righteousness ought to grab our attention.  These are the issues God is most concerned about.  Why?  Michael tells us: focus on the cause and not the consequence.  Perfect!

Day 286 - The Parallel Universe

Michael hits on one of the most foundational truths of God: in everything taking place God is working, and not only working, but working all things for good.  AND, when we see God in all things, all things change.

DAY 286

The Parallel Universe

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to {His} purpose. --Romans 8:28

Sometimes I think that God must have a parallel universe, because it is so beyond the comprehension of man to think that in everything taking place He is working, and not only working, but working things for good! Talk about a willpower of steel. He will not stop until all things have worked together for good for those who love Him. We can begin to see the world that way, and no matter what happens ask, “How will this be for good? How can this be for good? Can God do something good with this?” When we see God in all things, all things change.

I see so many little ministries; they are the ministries of the “lesser man” in this great time and have come into being because God is causing all things for good. We praise Him, we thank Him, and we rejoice in our God. “Thank You for a will that will not bend until everything around me is for good!”

Two things jump off the page for me in addition to the clear points Michael gives us so succinctly.
1. God and His doing is beyond the comprehension of Lost Man, but we can see with the “eyes” God has given us as Believers…hallelujah!  I am grateful for Him giving me His grace to “see.”
2. Knowing what I have, and Unbelievers do not have, makes me ask God to shine the Gospel Light through to more Unbelievers.

I know two pastor friends whose churches are having Vacation Bible School this week in their respective churches.  Bro. Jimmy Bevers and the folks at Edge Baptist Church (near Hearne, Texas).  And Bro. Dee Daniels and the folks at 1st Baptist Church Timpson (Timpson, Texas).  Will you join me in praying for the kids and parents participating in these two VBS outreaches, and pray for those who do not know the Lord to come to know Him, plus praying that those who do know Him will come to grow in grace and in the knowledge of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Blessings!

Day 277 - The Kingdom of God

Thoughts on Michael Wells’ teachings in My Weakness for His Strength (Vol. 1) - # 297

One nice thing in this day’s writing is Michael pointing out the essence of ALMI.  All who have known Michael and Betty for any time know that the heart of ALMI is a “with” ministry, not a building up of one ministry.  Amen.

Would to God that all Believers could be persuaded they already belong to The Kingdom of God.

DAY 277

The Kingdom of God

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. –I Peter 2:9

One of the most difficult things to explain is the Abiding Life Ministries International organization. I think I know why. While most are attempting to build an organization, we are busy reminding His people to recognize the organization that already exists. The church is not built by human endeavor but is something that is recognized. I hear people say, “We are building the Kingdom.” That is not true; actually, they are tearing down the real Kingdom of God by their unbelief in its existence, as shown through their attempts to build it. There already is an organization, and our job at ALMI is to persuade people of the fact that they already belong to it. The organization is called the Vine and they are branches, not branches attached to branches but branches attached to the Vine, I do not want people to join me; I want them to join Christ. Not only is it a great blessing to every branch to have the revelation of being in the Vine, it is an equal blessing to me. I do not have to make rules to try to create what the Holy Spirit will do naturally in His attached branches; I will leave that for the kingdom builders who wield their authority and try to do just that.

I like the King James translation speaking of Believers being a “peculiar” people.  Our peculiar book, the Bible, has some peculiar things to say about us that the world will never acknowledge…but we should.

Wouldn’t “church” be so nice if there were no rules.  Just Holy Spirit doing naturally in His attached branches.

Wouldn’t it be nice if all Believers knew and Lived Michael’s diagram of the Divine Umbilical Cord.  (contact ALMI for one of those)

Day 271 - The Green Lady

Seems like society would improve with age.  If more is discovered, coupled with what we learn from experience, how could things not get better?

But, leave it to the “natural mind,” which is from rebellion…things do not get better.

Michael gives us a very interesting truth that we must know and keep in mind at all times.  See if you can notice it as you read Day 271…

DAY 271

The Green Lady

And {let} the rich man {glory} in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away. --James 1:10

I was talking to a friend about the United States. He, like many others, is frustrated with the lack of common sense, lack of righteousness, and prevalence of greed that exists at so many levels of government. I reminded him that in our lives there have been many people we have loved. They have now passed away, and yet we remember them with fondness. Because they are deceased there is no need talking about them as though they are alive. The America that he and his father before him remember is no more; it has ceased to exist; it is over. She is just as dead as the green Statue of Liberty. What we see today is only a shadow of what it once was. We can speak of what it was when alive with great fondness. Reading the stories of Washington and Lincoln, the forming of the Constitution, and the many selfless acts of countless people who helped develop a country based in Christianity, one cannot help but be inspired. However, there is no need to be bitter about the death, and we are living in exciting times! Jesus’ return is near, and nowhere in the Bible does it say that in the end times one country will stand with Jesus. All of that must end as anti-Christ men fill their cups with their own judgment. Deterioration in society does not create evil men and wicked hearts; it simply reveals them. Those who hate believers are coming to the surface. We will know them, and we must learn not to entrust ourselves to them. “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you” (John 15:18). Do not be discouraged; His coming is near, and a kingdom far greater than the one formed with the Constitution will be ours forever!

Take note of the three things Michael listed about the frustration of his friend, and of so many of us.  However, we must not let a focus on those three take us away from a focus on Christ.

Hence, we can know that “interesting” truth: society does not create evil men and wicked hearts; it simply reveals them. Those who hate believers are coming to the surface.  And yet, we are not to let them discourage us…Jesus is coming soon!  In the meantime, He is within us providing victory and overcoming to anything we face and deal with.

Amen!
