Michael makes note of one of the most tragic things so many people are facing today, including Christians...trying to “find their way” in life/to live, without turning to Christ.  And then Michael gives two profound truths that could change the lives of millions.

DAY 97

Finding The Way

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life." --John 14:6

It is urgent today that mankind find a way to live. So far what usually is discovered is how not to live. Many continue to seek for the method, the understanding, or the system that will guide them. In Africa a traveler finds many places where there are no trails through the jungle, so he must hire a guide. The local name of the guide when translated into English is The Way. The way is a person! In the jungle and chaos of life, the Way is not knowledge but a Person.

It is told in India of a young girl trying to put together a jigsaw puzzle of the world, but she could not. Upon turning the pieces over she discovered a different puzzle much easier to put together: a picture of Jesus. Once Jesus was the focus, even the pieces of the world came together. He is the Way that is needed to make our world simple. Pray with me that God would allow us to proclaim the Way with all of the force, power, and conviction that it possesses.

In Michael’s scriptural text Jesus Christ identifies Himself as “the way.”  His followers were following the person of Christ, not a set of rules or methods.  Man always wants a “law, rule, or method.”  Michael used to talk about how that if he just preached Jesus, few would hang around.  That is why in this day’s writing Michael points out so clearly “many continue to seek for the method, the understanding, or the system that will guide them.”  All of these “other ways” involve knowledge.  Which leads to Michael’s first profound truth in this day’s writing: (1) “…the Way is not knowledge but a Person.”  Amen.  Would to God that all Christians could receive this.  The second profound truth: (2) “He is the Way that is needed to make our world simple.”

Simple.  What a wonderful state.  Simply by their own decisions, millions make their life more complex…and less simple…because they choose a law, rule, or method instead of The Person.  Well, amen.

By the way, one of my favorite quotes of Michael’s sayings was this: “Jesus is The Way, and all other ways are not the way.”
