A brand new year!  2014.  Opportunities abound in Christianity in the present day!  There should be an evangelism explosion what with the way things are in the world today…uneasiness, worry, fear…great time for the Prince of Peace to be presented.  Remember, Jesus just needs an introduction, not a production!

There also should be new opportunities for the many Christians who are finding life is like the Ferris Wheel that Michael describes below.  May 2014 bring you “life off the wheel.”

DAY 321

What A Ride!

To whom God willed to make known the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. --Colossians 1:27

I do not like thrilling rides. Many do. Unfortunately, if I am with a group, I will be pressured to ride. One of the most horrific rides is a Ferris Wheel that instead of the normal chairs has capsules designed to spin wildly as the large wheel turns. I find myself all alone, buckled in, door shut, everything seeming all right, and then the ride begins. What a wicked, awful thing to do to a person! No one deserves that! It finally stops and I want out.

One day I asked Jesus to come and dwell within me. What a ride I have taken Him on, up and down, upside down, fast forward and immediate reverse, falling and flying. I would think that after a prolonged ride He would be ready to get out, but He does not. He stays and brings calm to my innermost being. When I allow it, that calm works its way out, the ride stops, and I rest.

Many of us love Colossians 1:27, particularly for the great truth telling us of the unfathomable riches we have in Christ.  But, my goodness, those first seven words: a promise of God that HE WILL MAKE KNOWN the riches we have…  Whew!  Hallelujah!  It is His heartbeat that WE KNOW His riches.

With those riches, Michael gives us the way to calm in our innermost being…allowing Jesus to bring it.  The Wheel stops spinning, life stops going in circles, and calm & rest become the order of the day.  How about that?!?  WE don’t have to make it happen…WE cannot make it happen.  WE can let Jesus do it.  “Lord Jesus, bring Your peace and calm.”

Are you taking Jesus for a wild ride?  Are things going up and down, upside down, fast forward and immediate reverse, falling and flying???  When will you allow Jesus to bring calm to your innermost being?
